CARIBOU, Maine — Much of Maine woke up Friday morning to fresh snow coming down and their vehicles needing to be cleared of the new powder.
Penobscot, Hancock and Washington counties were under a winter weather advisory for much of Friday. As of noon, that had been lifted, according to the National Weather Service.
Mal Walker, a forecaster at the weather service, reported the Bangor area received roughly 3 inches while Ellsworth checked in at 5½ inches, the highest number.
Friday’s snowfall was a far cry from a storm earlier this month that dumped more than a foot of snow on many communities and disrupted power to more than 100,000 customers.
Walker said shortly before 1 p.m. Washington County was experiencing snowfall, but the storm was expected to move out by the end of the day.
Flights out of Bangor International Airport were operating normally, with no delays or cancellations reported.
