ELLSWORTH, Maine — Police have added two more names to the list of people facing charges as a result of an alleged drug deal last month.

On Oct. 14, John I. Gordon III, 25, and Jarrod J. Burns, 30, were arrested after Gordon allegedly sold Burns 5 milligrams of oxycodone while they were under surveillance, according to local police. Gordon, a Hancock resident, was charged with unlawful trafficking of scheduled drugs and Burns, a resident of Ellsworth, was charged with unlawful possession of scheduled drugs, police have indicated.

On Nov. 7, police charged two more people of being involved in the same alleged drug deal.

Tiffany M. Abbott, 30, of Hancock is accused of driving Gordon to the location where the transaction occurred, which was on Lakes Lane near the city’s commerce park, Sgt. Shawn Willey of Ellsworth Police Department said Friday. Brianne E. Young, 27, of Hancock is believed to have helped facilitate the sale, he added. Each of the women has been charged with unlawful trafficking in scheduled drugs and is due to appear in court on Dec. 16.

The trafficking charges, including the one filed against Gordon, are each Class B felonies, which in Maine are punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a fine of $20,000. The possession charge filed against Burns is a Class C felony, which is punishable by up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine.
