CARMEL, Maine — A Levant man was injured Thursday night after losing control of his Volkswagen on Horseback Road and striking a utility pole, state police said.
Andrew Rediker, 18, was traveling north when he lost control on a curve shortly after 11 p.m., State Police Lt. Sean Hashey said.
Rediker was the only occupant in the vehicle, and he was wearing his seat belt, Hashey said.
The impact of the crash broke the Central Maine Power pole but the wires remained intact, Hashey said. Power was briefly knocked out to residents in the area.
Hashey said Rediker was driving too fast for the curve, and his vehicle spun 180 degrees and went off the road before clipping the pole.
Rediker was not seriously injured and was transported to a local hospital for treatment, Hashey said. The speed limit on Horseback Road where the crash occurred is 45 miles per hour.
Trooper Brenda Coolen was the primary investigator on the accident.
