CAPE ELIZABETH, Maine — Cape Elizabeth police say Herbert Dennison was killed after he was knocked into a trash hopper at the Cape Elizabeth recycling enter.

Dennison, 79, is a retired public works director for Cape Elizabeth.

Police say Christine Sharp-Lopez, 72, was backing up her Ford Explorer to use the hopper when she struck Dennison and knocked him into the hopper while it was turned on.

The case is under investigation. No further information was available Monday.
