ROCKLAND, Maine — The city manager search committee has agreed to grant third interviews to two finalists.
The interviews will be conducted in the new year, said Councilor William Clayton, who chairs the search committee.
The panel members will take the finalists around the city and visit municipal departments to get their insights and ideas about their operations, Clayton said.
The names of the two finalists have not been publicly released.
More than 100 people submitted applications. The consultant hired by the city to help in the search — Rick Dacri of Dacri & Associates of Kennebunkport — recommended the names of six candidates to the search committee. One of those six withdrew from consideration before the first round of interviews.
After the first-round, four candidates were granted second interviews. The search committee met Monday night and agreed to offer another round, possibly final round, to the two finalists.
The search committee consists of the five city councilors and former Councilor Eric Hebert, who was on the council when the search began.
Finance Director Tom Luttrell has been serving as interim city manager since James Smith resigned in December 2013. Luttrell has declined to say whether he has applied for the post.
