Matt Mulligan has made the latest stop in his seven-year NFL career, this time in Nashville.
The Tennessee Titans on Tuesday announced that they had signed the former University of Maine tight end to their active roster.
Mulligan was added after second-year tight end Brett Bracket out of Penn State was placed on season-ending injured reserve with a knee injury. Mulligan had spent part of the 2008 season on the Titans practice squad after beginning his pro career with the Miami Dolphins in 2008.
Mulligan, a 6-foot-4, 267-pound native of Enfield who attended Penobscot Valley High School in Howland, will wear No. 89.
He was cut by Arizona on Dec. 5 after appearing in three games with the Cardinals. Mulligan had signed with the team on Nov. 18, two months after being cut by the Chicago Bears, who had signed him to a one-year contract back in April.
The Titans become seventh team on which Mulligan has played since completing his career at UMaine under coach Jack Cosgrove in 2007.
The blocking specialist did not make any receptions for the Bears or the Cardinals, but has 16 career catches for 160 yards and two touchdowns in his career. Mulligan also has played for the New York Jets (2009-2011), St. Louis Rams (2012) and New England Patriots (2013).
Mulligan could make his Titans debut as early as Thursday night when Tennessee travels to Jacksonville, Florida, to take on the Jaguars. The 8:25 p.m. game will be shown on the NFL Network.
