SKOWHEGAN, Maine — A local man is facing multiple charges after a drug raid produced 445 bags of heroin and other contraband, sheriff’s deputies said.
A search warrant was executed Tuesday morning at the residence of Darryel Wright, 36, according to Chief Deputy Dale Lancaster of the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office.
Detective Lt. Carl Gottardi led the search, according to Lancaster, and Skowhegan police assisted at the Mechanic Street scene.
During the search, syringes loaded with heroin and other substances, Suboxone strips, dozens of dirty bags of heroin, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, drug packaging material and $654 in cash were seized, along with the heroin bags, according to Lancaster.
The seized drugs have an estimated street value of $9,000. The search was part of an ongoing investigation regarding the sale of heroin in Somerset County, Lancaster said.
Wright is charged with aggravated trafficking in a Schedule W drug, possession of a Schedule W drug and violating conditions of release, Lancaster said.
“At the time of his arrest, Wright was on bail for a non-drug related matter in Franklin County,” Lancaster said. “This was a sufficient drug arrest.”
Wright’s bail was set at $10,000 cash or $50,000 surety after his arraignment on Wednesday. He remained in county lockup Wednesday afternoon.
