BATH, Maine — A woman was arrested Monday night on a drunken driving charge after striking an officer’s cruiser at an intersection.

Bath police Officer Eric Bryan was en route to a holdup alarm at Cumberland Farms on Route 1 shortly before midnight when his cruiser was struck by a vehicle driven by Olivia Hoffman, 28, of Bath, according to Lt. Robert Savary.

Savary said the alarm at the convenience store was due to an employee error and that there was never any emergency at Cumberland Farms.

Bryan’s lights and sirens were activated and the crash occurred at the intersection of North and High streets. Hoffman was headed west on North Street.

Neither driver was injured but Hoffman was arrested by Cpl. Ian Alexander of the Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Office and charged with OUI, Savary said.

Hoffman was later released on bail. Both vehicles were badly damaged.
