TOWNSHIP 28, Maine — Route 9 in Hancock County will be closed for much of the day Monday after three tractor-trailers left the road due to slick conditions, state police said.

The first of the three accidents was reported at 4:30 a.m., Sgt. Jeff Ingemi of the state police said.

The road is shut down from the intersection of Route 179 in Aurora to the intersection of Route 193 near Beddington, according to Ingemi.

The sergeant said the road is shut down so wreckers can have space to pull the trucks, all 18-wheelers, back onto the roadway.

None of the drivers were seriously injured. Ingemi said the road was slick at the time of the accidents but road conditions are expected to improve as the day goes on.

Department of Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland said later Monday morning the road was expected to be closed until early Monday afternoon.
