MOLUNKUS, Maine — A 29-year-old man escaped serious injury after he lost control of his vehicle and crashed on Route 2 in Molunkus on Saturday.
According to Aroostook County Sheriff Darrell Crandall, deputies determined that Cody M. Bean was driving a silver 2002 Ford Ranger northbound while on his way to work at about 11:58 a.m. when he entered a sweeping right hand curve.
Crandall said that the vehicle began to spin to the left, and when Bean tried to regain control of the vehicle, he overcorrected and the truck began rotating to the right. The vehicle crossed into the oncoming lane of traffic and struck the snow bank on the left side of the road. The vehicle rolled over and came to rest on the roof against a small stand of trees.
Speed, road conditions and inadequate tires are all considered contributing factors.
Bean was taken by ambulance to Penobscot Valley Hospital in Lincoln with injuries that were not life-threatening. The vehicle was totaled.
The crash remains under investigation and charges are possible, according to the sheriff.
Deputy Sheriff Vance Palmer is investigating the crash. Lincoln police are assisting.
