BANGOR, Maine — A Presque Isle man will spend the next seven years in prison for pulling out a loaded gun after being thrown out of a bar.
Wayne E. Boulier Jr., 34, was sentenced Monday in U.S. District Court to seven years in prison on a charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm, according to a news release issued Monday by U.S. Attorney Thomas E. Delahanty II. Chief Judge John A. Woodcock Jr. also ordered Boulier to serve three years of supervised release after he gets out of prison.
Boulier was in Bou’s Brew Pub on Main Street in Presque Isle the night of April 6, 2013, according to the prosecution version of events to which he pleaded guilty. A bouncer escorted Boulier to the door and Boulier fell onto the sidewalk outside the bar.
“When the defendant fell he pulled up his shirt and pulled out a pistol,” Delahanty said in the release. “A bar patron and a second bouncer restrained the defendant and took the pistol from [him].”
Boulier told arresting officers that he had the Glock .40-caliber pistol for protection.
Boulier was prohibited from possessing firearms because he had 12 prior felony convictions in Maine and Connecticut on charges that included burglary, escape and assault.
Boulier has been held without bail since his arrest.
The investigation was conducted by members of the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Presque Isle Police Department and the Maine State Police.
