AUGUSTA, Maine — Traffic on Interstate 95 will be snarled for much of Tuesday afternoon because of an overturned trash truck at mile 111, according to Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland.
The accident occurred in the northbound lanes just south of the Bond Brook Bridge, according to McCausland.
Northbound motorists were urged to avoid the area by using Exit 109. The truck involved is from Troiano Waste Services, according to McCausland.
McCausland later said that the wrecked semi would remain where it crashed overnight and would be removed on Wednesday morning.
In the meantime, he said, travel in the northbound lanes will continue to be reduced to one lane and morning commuters should expect delays and backups in Augusta between Exits 109 and 112.
Motorists can avoid those backups by taking the Western Avenue Exit and finding alternate routes in Augusta, he said.
The crash site is just south of where another truck overturned on the interstate last week, heavily damaging a guardrail on the Bond Brook bridge.
No other details from Tuesday’s crash were immediately available.
