Bangor High School striker Allison Boulier, who helped lead the Rams to three Eastern Maine Class A championships and one state title, will join her older sister Erin on the Husson University women’s soccer team in Bangor this fall.
Erin Boulier, a center back who will be a senior at Husson in the fall, is a three-time All-North Atlantic Conference defender.
“My sister didn’t play a huge role in my decision but it’s going to be fun to play with her again like we have in the past. It will be a cool experience,” said Allison Boulier, who scored 24 goals and notched 15 assists for the 13-1-2 Rams this past fall.
“I love playing with her. It’s nice to play with players who are really passionate about the game,” Erin Boulier said. “To have my sister on the field with me for my last season will be awesome.”
Allison Boulier said she is “real excited” about attending Husson.
“I want to go into physical therapy and Husson has a real good six-year physical therapy program,” said Boulier. “Academics are really important. I also want to keep playing soccer. Soccer has always been my favorite sport.”
She will be joining a Husson team that will graduate just three seniors off a 12-8 team and will return 12 freshmen and sophomores who appeared in at least 11 games. Husson was 7-2 in conference play during the regular season and lost to Castleton State (Vermont) 4-0 in the NAC semifinals.
Freshman striker Leah Hibbad was an All-NAC first-team selection after finishing second in the conference in scoring with 14 goals and four assists.
But the Eagles don’t return anyone else who scored more than three goals.
“I think she’ll contribute right away — not because she’s my sister and I’m biased but because of her work ethic, her speed and her [shot]. She and Leah will work real well together,” Erin Boulier said.
Allison Boulier had a chance to watch her sister play last fall and feels she is joining a strong team.
“I’m going to need to be ready. There are a lot of good players in college,” she said. “I’m confident in my ability and I expect to keep improving. Playing with really good players will help me make the transition.”
Bangor High coach Joe Johnson said Husson will be getting a player with a powerful left foot who can score from 25 to 30 yards out and who created “at least eight to 10 goals” for the Rams with her inswinging left-footed corner kicks.
“She has tremendous passion for the sport,” said Johnson, who is also coaching her on the Bangor High girls basketball team. “I don’t think she missed a [practice or game] during the summer. She has a great work ethic.”
After basketball season, Allison Boulier will play for the River City Under-18 club team.
The Bouliers said an added benefit will be that their parents, Mark and Tammy, will be able to see them play. Mark is the assistant coach for the Bangor High girls soccer team.
