AUGUSTA, Maine — The wreckage of a tractor-trailer that overturned on Interstate 95 on Tuesday afternoon has been cleared and traffic is now back to normal, Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland said early Wednesday evening.
The demolished semi, which spilled its load of garbage along the highway, was removed by about 5:40 p.m.
The crash, which happened at mile marker 111 in the northbound lanes just south of the Bond Brook bridge, caused traffic to be reduced to one lane, which in turn resulted in backups, according to McCausland.
The truck involved is from Troiano Waste Services, according to McCausland.
He said the truck’s driver, Matthew Blackburn, 42, of Portland, was not injured.
The crash site is just south of where another truck overturned on the interstate last week, heavily damaging a guardrail on the Bond Brook bridge.
