ORONO, Maine — A Milford man was scheduled to appear in a Bangor courtroom Friday to face a robbery charge, according to police.
Jason Foster, 21, is accused of robbing the Circle K convenience store on Stillwater Avenue, according to Orono Police Chief Josh Ewing.
The robbery occurred shortly after midnight Thursday, Ewing said.
Foster walked into the store and asked for a pack of cigarettes, but he did not have identification on him so a clerk denied the sale, according to Ewing.
Foster subsequently threw a plastic bag onto the counter and demanded cash, but the clerk refused, the chief said.
As Foster left, he allegedly made a threat to the clerk and fled in a vehicle. Shortly after, Orono police Officer Wilfred King happened to pull into the store and the clerk notified him of the situation, Ewing explained.
King subsequently notified officers in the area, and Old Town police Sgt. Michael Hashey pulled the vehicle over in that town after spotting it, Ewing said.
Foster was arrested and charged with robbery and taken to Penobscot County Jail.
