STANDISH, Maine — The condition of a Massachusetts woman who pulled into the lane of a logging truck Friday afternoon and was struck by the fully loaded big rig has changed from serious to critical, a Maine Medical Center spokesperson said Sunday.
Helen Dobosz, 72, of Seekonk, Massachusetts, was trapped inside her vehicle until rescue crews arrived and extricated her, according to Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office officials.
She was driving a 2009 Honda Accord on the Saco Road at around 4:30 p.m. and stopped at a stop sign at the intersection of Route 25, Cumberland County Lt. Donald Foss said in a news release.
“The Honda continued into the intersection and was struck broadside by the logging truck on the passenger side,” Foss said.
Her vehicle was destroyed, he said.
The occupants of the logging truck were not injured. Brian Noke, 29, was driving, and his passengers were Richard Noke, 50, and Jason Jockett, 31, all of Limington, according to the press release.
Route 25 was closed for several hours following the crash while detectives with the sheriff’s office investigated the crash and conducted accident reconstruction.
Cumberland County deputies and officers were assisted by Standish Fire-EMS and the Maine State Police Commercial Motor Vehicle unit.
Investigators are still investigating the collision but have ruled out speed and alcohol as factors in the crash, Foss said.
