LINCOLN, Maine — A local man was charged Thursday with possession of a firearm by a felon after allegedly pawning a rifle, police said.
Jamie Clements, 35, of Lincoln was arrested after police received a tip that Clements had pawned a .22-caliber rifle at Lincoln Trading & Pawn, 55 West Broadway, on Thursday afternoon.
Aware from prior dealings with him that Clements was a felon and thus barred from handling weapons, Lincoln police Officer John Walsh interviewed store workers and verified the tip. Clements allegedly admitted selling the rifle for a friend, said Detective Mark Fucile, the department’s spokesman.
Clements is on probation for a felony committed in New Hampshire, said Fucile, who had no further details.
Clements is being held without bail at Penobscot County Jail and due to appear at Penobscot Judicial Center on April 16.
