ELLSWORTH, Maine — Three people arrested last summer in a Gouldsboro drug bust are among several people indicted on drug charges last week by a Hancock County grand jury.
Overall, 14 people were indicted on various charges on Feb. 5.
Samantha J. Polchies, 26, and Edward M. Muise, 39, both of Gouldsboro, and Gary W. Reynolds, 56, of Milbridge, were taken into custody last August after members of the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency executed a warrant at Muise and Polchies’ home on Guzzle Road. Agents reported finding 10 grams of heroin along with $1,000 in cash suspected of being proceeds from the sale of drugs.
Polchies and Muise were indicted Feb. 5 on class B charges of unlawful trafficking of scheduled drugs, felony and misdemeanor charges of unlawful possession of scheduled drugs, and criminal forfeiture. Reynolds, who has a history of drug convictions, was indicted on two class A counts of aggravated trafficking of scheduled drugs, a class C charge of unlawful possession of scheduled drugs and criminal forfeiture.
Muise and Polchies also were arrested in a Sullivan drug bust in October. Reynolds also is facing charges in Cumberland County stemming from a drug-related arrest there in December.
Convictions for class A crimes in Maine are punishable by up to 30 years in prison and a $50,000 fine, while a conviction for a class B crime can result in sentences of up to 10 years in prison and a fine of $20,000. A class C felony is punishable by up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine.
The grand jury also indicted two men from Florida who were arrested last November in Ellsworth after they were caught allegedly selling cocaine out of a van. After observing an apparent drug sale, police stopped and searched the van, finding inside a rubber boot more than a pound of cocaine, which had an estimated street value of $51,000, police said at the time.
As a result, Nicholas St. Merite, 52, and Marc A. Thervil, 44, both of Fort Pierce, Florida, were indicted on class A charges of aggravated trafficking of scheduled drugs, class B charges of unlawful trafficking in scheduled drugs and criminal forfeiture.
A man charged in a Bucksport pharmacy robbery in December also was indicted last week. Phillip C. Russell, 44, of Bucksport is facing a Class B charge of robbery, a class C charge of stealing drugs, and criminal forfeiture.

Keith N. Goodrich, 46, Bar Harbor, theft, unemployment fraud.
David L. Hickman, 30, Hancock, failure to report to jail.
Robert L. Moore, 27, Brewer, unlawful trafficking of scheduled drugs, unlawful possession of scheduled drugs.
Jeffrey L. Sargent, 55, Ellsworth, unlawful sexual contact.
Ryan P. Stillwell, 32, Lamoine, negotiating a worthless instrument.
Timothy L.Thorpe, 34, Holden, assault on an officer, refusing to submit to arrest, criminal mischief, violating conditions of release.
