WESTBROOK, Maine — Two 20-year-old men have been arrested in connection with a series of car break-ins after a city plow driver alerted Westbrook police about a suspicious incident around 4 a.m. Sunday.

Officers found footprints leading to cars parked in a number of driveways and followed the footprints to an Everett Court residence, where they found Kevin Grescoviak of Westbrook and Paolo Patriotti of Windham, according to a press release issued by Westbrook police Sunday afternoon.

The men were arrested and charged with four counts each of burglary to a motor vehicle and theft by unauthorized taking and one court of stealing drugs, the press release said. Patriotti had an active arrest warrant and was in violation of his conditions of release from an earlier arrest.

The nature of the Patriotti’s previous arrest was not included in information released by police.

When officers executed a search warrant at the residence where the pair was arrested at 7 a.m., they found cellphones, GPS receivers, laptop computers and power tools, as well as gift cards and bank cards, the release said. All items were suspected of being stolen during recent car burglaries in the area.

At about the same time, officers responded to a reported motor vehicle burglary on Woodmont Street and were able to link Grescoviak and Patriotti to the scene.

The pair could face additional charges as the investigation continues.

Westbrook police urged residents who have been victims of recent motor vehicle burglaries to contact investigators at 854-0644.
