RICHMOND, Maine — A 26-year-old man is in Two Bridges Regional Jail on Wednesday morning charged with Class A robbery, assault on an officer and multiple other crimes following a Tuesday night incident in which a police officer was injured.

Jedidiah Wasilewski of Richmond was also charged with operating under the influence, operating after suspension, resisting arrest and aggravated criminal mischief, Richmond Police Chief Scott MacMaster said Wednesday.

Wasilewski allegedly hit one man with a BB gun and stole a 2005 Ford Escape from another man while a band was practicing at a Hatch Street home at about 9:20 p.m.

MacMaster said Wasilewski drove the Escape onto Route 24, also known as River Road, and crashed at the intersection of Knickerbocker Road, totaling the vehicle, MacMaster said.

When officers arrived at the crash, “Mr. Wasilewski was less than cooperative and had to be Tased to get him to comply,” MacMaster said. Once he was arrested, Wasilewski allegedly caused an estimated $1,200 in damage to the police cruiser.

While at Mid Coast Hospital being cleared for potential injuries from the crash and the Taser, Wasilewski allegedly hit and pushed Officer James Donnell again, causing minor injuries.

Wasilewski was held at Two Bridges Regional Jail overnight on a probation violation and was expected to appear before a judge on Wednesday, MacMaster said.
