WESTBROOK, Maine — A Steep Falls man is facing multiple charges after police allegedly caught him break into a motor vehicle on Mechanic Street.

Franklin LeClair, 51, was caught in the act and found inside a parked vehicle, according to Westbrook police Capt. Michael Nugent.

LeClair was found and arrested at about 2 a.m. Thursday, according to Nugent.

Officers found footprints in fresh snow leading to parked cars in several driveways, Nugent said.

LeClair was charged with burglary to a motor vehicle, unlawful possession of schedule Z drugs and refusing to submit to arrest. A number of stolen items were recovered during the arrest.

Anyone in the area of Mechanic or Green streets who finds their vehicle was broken into should call Westbrook police at 854-0644.
