AUGUSTA, Maine — Six people, including a man from New York City, were arrested on Friday after a heroin and crack investigation spanning several months, according to the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency.

Arrested were Rahiem Brent, 31, of New York, and Kathy Tupper, 50, Eric Anderson, 44, Nancy Rodriques, 18, Dominique Kirk, 27 and Josh Carey, 41, all of Augusta, MDEA Commander Peter Arno said.

The investigation focused on the undercover purchase of heroin and crack cocaine from two Augusta residences, according to Arno.

On Friday afternoon, MDEA officials, along with Augusta and state police and the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office, executed search warrants at residences on Mayflower Road and Second Avenue, Arno said.

Seized were 14 grams of crack cocaine, 1.5 grams of heroin and other evidence of drug trafficking, Arno said.

Brent and Tupper were both charged with aggravated trafficking in Schedule W drugs, while Anderson and Rodriques are facing a charge of trafficking in Schedule W drugs, Arno said. Brent and Tupper’s charges were elevated to aggravated due to prior drug felonies on their records.

Kirk and Carey were both charged with bail violations. The investigation is ongoing and more arrests are likely.
