ROCKLAND, Maine — A Thomaston teen will serve seven months in jail if he behaves through the rest of the year after admitting to setting fire to portable toilets on two occasions last summer.

Philip Seekins, 19, pleaded guilty Wednesday in Knox County Superior Court to two counts of arson. Under the agreement, if Seekins adheres to conditions including no additional criminal activity for the next nine months, both arson charges will be dropped in exchange for convictions to failure to report a fire and criminal mischief.

He will serve seven months in jail and be required to pay $550 in restitution.

Seekins was one three people arrested last July for twice setting fire to portable toilets at Sandy Beach Park. The three used toilet paper and hand sanitizer to set the fire.

Another of the defendants was sentenced last month.
