GRAY, Maine — It’s not over yet.

A late-winter low-pressure system predicted to bring accumulating snow to much of Maine is slowly tracking up the east coast and is expected to make its arrival Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.

Mixed precipitation is likely for coastal communities during the day Saturday, according to the weather service, but all precipitation is expected to turn to snow by Saturday night.

Precipitation will wrap up statewide by Sunday afternoon, according to the weather service.

As of Friday afternoon, a winter storm watch had been issued for Oxford, Franklin, Somerset, Androscoggin, Kennebec, Waldo, Lincoln, Knox and Sagadahoc counties.

When all is said and done, the Bangor area could receive about 6 to 10 inches of fresh snow, while the Portland area is only predicted to receive about 1 to 4 inches.

About 4 to 8 inches are expected in western Maine and 3 to 6 inches along the midcoast and into Augusta and Waterville, according to the weather service.
