Hospice training

BANGOR —  Beacon Hospice, an Amedisys company, 289 State St., Suite B, is seeking

volunteers to join its hospice team. Its 21-hour training program will begin 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, and end Tuesday, May 19, covering seven weeks. The training prepares volunteers for serving patients and families.

New ob-gyn staff members

BANGOR — EMMC Women’s Healthcare of Maine announced recently that it has expanded its team of obstetric and gynecologic providers. New staff members are Dr. Leigh Bretta, Dr. Murray Lebowitz, Dr. Paola Rinaldi-Whitham and Nurse Practitioner Galina Lvin. The new providers join Dr. Garrick Slate, Dr. Kara Smythe, Certified Nurse Midwife Lois Bergmans and Certified Nurse Midwife Barbara A. Malvin.

Chief financial officer

BANGOR — Penobscot Community Health Care announced recently that Christine

Finn-McLaughlin has joined its leadership team to serve as chief financial officer, responsible for all financial oversight, including accounting systems, internal controls and budget management.

An undergraduate of the University of Maine, Finn-McLaughlin received a master’s degree in business administration in healthcare management from the University of Phoenix.

Before joining PCHC, Finn-McLaughlin served as chief financial officer of Millinocket Regional Hospital since 2007. For information, go to pchc.org.

Vice president and COO

BANGOR — Acadia Hospital president and chief executive officer, Daniel Coffey, announced that Scott Oxley has been selected to be vice president and chief operating officer for Acadia Hospital and Acadia Healthcare.

Oxley’s operational oversight will include direct reports responsible for facilities and environmental services, information systems, planning and business development, outcome measurement and analytics, performance improvement, compliance, and adult outpatient services and clinics.

Relay for Life

OLD TOWN — The Old Town-Orono YMCA will host its fourth annual Zumba Party, BAZIP: Bangor Area Zumba Instructor and Participants’ Party, the American Cancer Society Relay for Life fundraising event, 7-9 p.m. Friday, April 24, at the Y.

At the event, instructors from across Maine will step up and lead the crowd in an energy filled, live-action, dance-fitness event that will have participants moving and grooving, sweating and laughing, and loving the power of human connection and pure fun, organizers said.

Tickets are $8 in advance if received by Wednesday, April 22, or $10 at the door.
