BANGOR — Catherine Gordon of Plymouth, a senior at Bangor Christian Schools, has
been selected to receive the 2015 Principal’s Award, Principal Martha Boone announced on March 10.
The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals’ Association, is given in recognition of a
high school senior’s academic achievement and citizenship.
Gordon and Boone, and other award winners and their principals, will attend an honors luncheon at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, April 11, at the Spectacular Event Center in Bangor.
The students will be recognized with the presentation of an individual plaque and the awarding of five $1,000 scholarships in the names of Horace O. McGowan and Richard W. Tyler. McGowan and Tyler were former Maine principals and executive directors of the association.
This year at the event an additional five $1,000 scholarships will be presented through the efforts of the MPA Scholarship Golf Tournament.

ELLSWORTH — The Maine Community Foundation announced recently that it offers nearly 520 scholarships that support students pursuing music, journalism, teaching, horticulture, technology, the arts and many other fields. The scholarships are available to students who attend secondary, post-secondary and graduate schools, as well as nontraditional programs.

Pops concert, dinner
BREWER — The Brewer Music Department and Brewer Music Association will hold its annual pops concert and spaghetti dinner on Wednesday, April 1 at Brewer Performing Arts Center at Brewer Community School. The concert will feature the Brewer Community School band and the Brewer High School Band.
The spaghetti dinner is 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria and the concert will begin at 7 p.m. Tickets may be purchased at brewerperformingarts.com or at the door. The cost is $10 dinner and concert, $7 child or senior dinner and concert. Dinner only, $7, $5 child or senior. Concert only, $5, $3 child or senior. Proceeds will benefit Brewer music students and programs.
