BROOKS, Maine — A Pennsylvania man is in a Belfast jail after he was arrested on a warrant from his home state for failing to register as a sex offender.
Franklin Barrick, 44, of St. Thomas, Pennsylvania, was arrested Thursday by Waldo County sheriff’s office Deputies John McEwen and Darrin Moody as Barrick was driving a car in Brooks, according to a news release from the department. The arrest came after deputies received a tip he had been living in Brooks for about a month under a different name.
Deputies confirmed there was an extraditable felony warrant out on Barrick for has alleged failure to register as a sex offender in Pennsylvania.
The sheriff’s office reported that Barrick was taken to the Waldo County Jail in Belfast, where he currently is being held. Additional charges may be pending.
