WISCASSET, Maine — A Jefferson man charged in Knox County with sexual assault has been indicted in neighboring Lincoln County for the same crime.
A Lincoln County grand jury indicted Darrell Crosby on 18 counts of unlawful sexual contact with a child under 12 and two counts of attempted unlawful sexual contact with a child under 12. Both charges are felonies.
The crimes allegedly took place from July 2004 to January 2012, according to the indictment.
In April 2014, Crosby was arrested in Rockland and charged with one count each of unlawful sexual contact and unlawful sexual touching, crimes that allegedly took place over a six-year period ending in 2011.
An affidavit filed by Knox County Sheriff’s Office Detective Justin Twitchell states the alleged assaults were uncovered in March 2014 when victim’s mother told police her child had disclosed the assaults to her.
The victim told police the assaults began when she age 4 and occurred in Owls Head, according to the affidavit. The crimes in Lincoln County reportedly involve the same victim, according to a report in the Lincoln County News.
The Lincoln County case against Crosby has been since been permanently transferred to Knox County, a court clerk confirmed Monday.
