BREWER, Maine — Power was knocked out to more than 200 customers Thursday morning after a vehicle struck a utility pole on Route 9, according to police.

The male driver, whose name was not available, suffered injuries not considered life-threatening, Brewer Deputy Chief Jason Moffitt said.

The crash, which involved just the one vehicle, occurred shortly before 5:30 a.m., according to Moffitt.

The impact sent power lines down and broke a pole, the deputy chief said. The road was closed for much of the morning between Day and Cleweyville roads but will be reduced to one lane as crews replace the broken pole.

Power has since been restored to the Emera Maine customers whose electricity was knocked out by the crash.
