THOMASTON, Maine — There are potential contested races for the
Board of Selectmen and school board as the deadline nears for people to file nomination papers.
Incumbent Selectman Greg Hamlin, who serves as chairman of the board, has filed his nomination papers. Kella River has taken out nomination papers but has not returned them yet.
River also has taken out papers for a three-year term on Regional School Unit 13 Board to represent Thomaston. Town Clerk Joan Linscott said that while a person can run for both the Board of Selectmen and school board, the individual only can hold one of those posts at a time.
The town’s two incumbent school board members, Noreen Mullaney and Ron Gamage, have taken out papers for a single two-year seat. Mullaney and Gamage have been appointed to the school board to fill seats vacated by resignations. Mullaney was appointed in August to succeed Marla McGeady, and Gamage was appointed during the past month to succeed David Hynd.
Peter Lammert has taken out papers to serve another term on the board of assessors.
The deadline to file papers at the town office is April 24.
