BANGOR, Maine — One of the 10 suspects arrested last week in connection with an alleged Dexter-area drug ring will move from jail to a Cambridge residence, where he will be subject to electronic monitoring.

Roger Belanger, 57, along with eight of his co-defendants, pleaded not guilty last week to federal drug and other charges.

During a detention hearing Monday in U.S. District Court, Assistant U.S. Attorney Joel Casey said he had reservations about waiving the motion to detain Belanger because of his status as a fugitive from justice in Massachusetts and because of “confusing” information that Belanger reportedly provided the court about his financial situation.

Casey said, however, that he would agree to waive the detention motion because of what he called “very onerous conditions” that Belanger agreed to abide by.

Those include home incarceration requiring that he remain at the Cambridge residence unless granted permission to attend court and medical appointments and that he wear an electronic monitoring device.

Others arrested in connection with the drug operation were Kelli Mujo, 29, of Harmony; Mark Tasker, 47, and Greg Tasker, 26, both of Dexter; John Williams, 42, and Cynthia Williams of Stetson; and Whitney Chadbourne, 21, Corey Pomerleau, 23, Eugene Moulton, 56, and Antoinette Perrault, 46, whose hometowns were not available.

Court documents indicate that Belanger, Mujo, Mark Tasker, John Williams, Greg Tasker, Whitney Chadbourne and Cynthia Williams conspired with each other between January 2012 and November 2014.

Belanger, Mujo, John Williams and Cynthia Williams are all accused of using or maintaining a drug-involved place and conspiracy to distribute and possess cocaine and oxycodone with intent to distribute, the documents indicate.

Dexter Police Chief Kevin Wintle said last week that the investigation into cocaine and oxycodone distribution that led to the arrests spanned 1½ years.
