ROCKLAND, Maine — A Rockland man is being held without bail for allegedly selling marijuana to teens.

Darryl Lange, 51, was arrested Monday at his Main Street apartment by Maine Drug Enforcement Agency agents and charged with felony trafficking in marijuana and violation of bail, according to Rockland police.

Lange’s arrest came after a month-long investigation by members of the MDEA, Rockland police and the Knox County Sheriff’s Office. The investigation began when Rockland police received complaints about a large number of visitors entering and leaving his residence. Agents observed a lot of the foot traffic was teenagers who stopped by for a very short time before leaving.

After several transactions were observed, officers and agents conducted a bail check on Lange and found about half a pound of marijuana, four grams of hashish, scales, more than $1,000 in cash from drug proceeds and six marijuana plants, according to police. Some of the marijuana was packaged for resale for $10 per gram. He also was giving out rolling papers to the teens, police said.

Lange had been free on bail after being arrested in March by Rockland police on a charge of criminal threatening.

Lange is at the Knox County Jail in Rockland and could make his initial court appearance on the new charge Wednesday afternoon in Knox County Unified Court in Rockland.
