HOULTON, Maine — A Wednesday night traffic stop in town turned up a quantity of drugs, drug paraphernalia and evidence of methamphetamine trafficking, according to the Maine State Police.

Joshua Branscombe, 25, was a passenger in the vehicle pulled over around 9 p.m. on Currier Road by Trooper Eric Sucy, according to a release issued Thursday by Trooper Chuck Michaud.

Branscombe, of Oakfield, was arrested and charged with trafficking in methamphetamine, possession of Schedule Z drugs, illegal possession of hypodermic apparatuses, and sale and use of drug paraphernalia, said Michaud.

No information was provided on the driver of the vehicle or the reason for the traffic stop.

Branscombe was transported to the Aroostook County Jail in Houlton and his first court appearance was set for July 21.
