Unity Raceway will open for the season 2:30 p.m. Sunday, and Nick Huff, who is leasing the track from owners Ralph and Nancy Nason, is looking forward to it.

Huff said they have cleaned up the track, fixing a lot of the fencing and replacing some of the bleachers.

Late Models, Outlaw Minis and Flyin Fours will debut, and there will be a pair of 50-lap Super Stock Enduro races that will pay $500 to win.

Races will be held every other weekend. On May 31, the Wildcats, Monsta Minis and Super Stock Enduros will race along with Derek Mingo’s Outlaw Super Series.

“We ran 100-lap Enduro races last year, but it seemed a bit too long for those cars,” Huff explained.

Huff also will hold three Pro Stock races as part of a series later in the season.

“It’s my way to get my foot in the door for Pro Stocks without committing myself too much financially,” Huff said. “I grew up helping my dad [Kris] and he raced Pro Stocks. I miss the Pro Stocks.”

The 26-year-old Huff, a graphic designer, held four races at Unity last season and reached an agreement with Nason to lease the track this season.

In the Super Stock Enduros, the field will be inverted after the first 50-lap race so the winner will start in the back for the next race.
