Each week the BDN Maine Outdoors team takes a look at different gear you might need for your next outdoor adventure. For this week’s Gear Bag, we looked at the Giant quick fix bicycle repair kit.
What is it? The Giant quick fix bicycle repair kit provides riders with everything needed to repair a flat tire, and Peter Richmond, general manager at Ski Rack, recommends anyone going out on a bike ride to have one.
Why do I need it? The kit comes with everything you would need to make a repair to a flat or do a minor repair on a bicycle tire. Included in the kit is a multi-tool with about 10 different wrenches, different screwdrivers, various sized tire levers and a carbon dioxide kit to quickly inflate your tires if you do get a flat. The only other thing you might need is a patch kit. Anyone can fix a flat, it just takes a few minutes to learn. Having this kit, which conveniently stores in a seat bag underneath your bike seat, could potentially save your life if you were to get a flat while out far without any form of communication.
