CAMDEN, Maine — A series of public comment meetings to discuss final draft chapters of the town’s revised comprehensive plan will be held in June and July.

“The intent of these meetings is to receive public comments before we present a final version of the revised plan for a public vote in 2016,” Lowrie Sargent, chairman of the comprehensive plan review committee, explained in a news release.

Copies of the final draft chapters and information about the dates, times and locations of the public comment session will be posted on the town’s website at camdenmaine.gov under the comprehensive plan heading. Information on the sessions also can be found on the town’s calendar of events on channel 22 for those who have Time-Warner Cable.

Work on updating the plan started in November 2012. Sargent said Camden’s original comprehensive plan was written in 1992, and it has been revised every 10 year as required by state law.

“Revising the plan every 10 years enables the town to benefit from state and federal programs. It also is in the best interest of the town to have a road map for our future,” he added.

The public comment sessions on the following chapters will be held at 5 p.m. in the Washington Street meeting room in the Camden Opera House. The meeting dates are as follows:

— Thursday, June 18: Chapter 1 (history); Chapter 5 (natural resources); Chapter 6 (natural opportunities and constraints); Chapter 7 (sewer and water) and Chapter 8 (solid waste).

— Thursday, June 25: Chapter 11 (housing); Chapter 12 (the harbor); Chapter 13 (recreation and open spaces); Chapter 14 (historic resources) and Chapter 15 (public facilities).

— Thursday, July 9: Chapter 4 (downtown); Chapter 17 (education): Chapter 20 (planning); Chapter 22 (regional cooperation); Chapter 24 (town government).
