HERMON — The public is invited to a free concert featuring D.C. Washington, a Virginia-based singer and recording artist at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 27, and 9 a.m. Sunday, June 28, at Hermon Baptist Church, 2496 Route 2. Accompanying him will be a full orchestra, a choir of nearly 60 adult members, a small vocal ensemble and a praise band. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. on June 27, 8 a.m. on June 28. Ushers will be available to greet and assist attendees with seating.  Donations will be accepted to help offset the cost of the concert.

Featured songs will include “End of the Beginning,” “Audience of One,” “Were You There?” and “Child of Mine.” The live orchestra is composed of local musicians, and the adult choir draws its nearly 60 voices from surrounding communities.

According to D.C. Washington, he has been asking himself some searching questions. He said, “Having reached that wonderful milestone of a half century, I think back over my life, analyzing it year by year. What have I learned? Now that I’ve learned it, how am I going to spend the second half of my life being God’s servant and applying what He has taught me?”

Arranger and orchestrator Camp Kirkland said that D.C . Washington’s warm voice “brings a great freshness and sincerity to all of the songs, both old and new.”

D.C. Washington, originally from the small town of McGehee, Arkansas, has served his country and his Lord around the world. He currently resides in northern Virginia with his wife and three children.
