EAGLE LAKE, Maine — An Eagle Lake man has been arrested after being accused of beating his elderly neighbor with the man’s own cane.
Tyler Saucier, 29, was charged with aggravated assault after he entered his neighbor’s Summer Street apartment and allegedly beat the 77-year-old resident just after 6:30 a.m. Monday, according to Aroostook County Sheriff Darrell Crandall.
Saucier, who reportedly was intoxicated, had been outside the apartment building, in which he also lives, and was yelling at the man for looking out the window, Crandall said.
Saucier then went to the man’s door and kicked it, according to the sheriff. When the tenant opened the door, Saucier allegedly grabbed the man’s cane, causing him to fall.
Saucier then allegedly hit the man repeatedly with the cane, injuring the victim’s hand, leg and knee and breaking his glasses, Crandall said.
The victim refused medical treatment at the scene, according to Crandall.
Saucier was taken to the Aroostook County Jail in Houlton to await his initial court appearance on June 24.
Saucier faces a maximum of 10 years in jail for the Class B felony crime, Crandall said.
