ORONO, Maine —  With just $36,818 left to raise, Orono Public Library Foundation officials are confident that the goal for Chapter Two: The Campaign for the Orono Village Green will be achieved by Monday, Aug. 31.

All new gifts to the campaign will be matched dollar-for-dollar by The First, according to Foundation President and Campaign Co-Chair Sarah Kenney.

To date 326 donors have contributed to the Orono Village Green campaign. All donors who contribute by or before Aug. 31 will be recognized on an outdoor sign to be installed on the Orono Village Green.

For the first time, the Orono Village Association and the town of Orono are holding the Summer Concert series at 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays on the future site of the Orono Village Green. Members of the capital campaign committee will be present at all of the performances to talk with attendees about the campaign.

Concerts are free and the library will remain open until 8 p.m. on concert evenings. Attendees should bring a lawn chair or blanket. Concessions are provided by Orono Schools Coalition for the Arts. In the event of rain, the concert will be cancelled and the library will close at 5:00 p.m.

The concert schedule is: July 22, University of Machias Ukuleles; July 29, The Blast Addicts (hard rock and power pop); Aug. 5, Rotating Taps (indie-rock-hop); Aug. 12, Nevah (prograssabilly).
