ROCKLAND, Maine — A man who police said broke into a Rockland home Tuesday morning while the residents slept was arrested later in the day.
Robert Graham, 24, was charged with burglary and stealing drugs, according to a news release from the Rockland Police Department.
Officers went to a Limerock Street residence shortly after 1 a.m. after the residents awoke to find an intruder in their bedroom, the release states. The male burglar fled as the homeowners called police.
A tracking dog from the Lincoln County sheriff’s office was brought in and followed the suspect’s trail for some distance before losing it.
But Tuesday afternoon, Rockland officers and agents with the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency found Graham in possession of stolen items at the residence of Stephen Butler on Lisle Street. Butler had been charged in April with possession of Suboxone and bail conditions allowed officers to search his home.
During Tuesday’s search of Butler’s residence, agents found and seized 68 30-milligram oxycodone pills shipped here from out of state, the stimulant Vyvanse, marijuana plants and drug paraphernalia, according to police. Butler, 32, was charged with trafficking in oxycodone and violating conditions of his release.
Graham was found in possession of medication stolen from the residential burglary earlier in the day, police said in the release. Additional investigation indicated that Graham had been in possession of other items taken during the burglary, police said.
Graham was taken to the Knox County Jail in Rockland. Bail was set at $2,000 cash.
