ROCKLAND, Maine — A Lake View Drive resident has taken out nomination papers to challenge incumbent Frank Isganitis, who serves as the mayor of City Council.
William Jillson took out papers Tuesday for the council seat held by Isganitis.
Jillson has not responded to a pair of telephone calls for comment. He formerly had operated Knox County Towing and Recovery and had a dispute with the city in 2013 over operating the business from his home located on what also is known as Route 17.
There is one three-year seat up for election on Nov. 3. Isganitis already has taken out papers to seek a second consecutive term. Isganitis was elected mayor by the other councilors in November 2014 and will serve in the largely ceremonial post until November.
No other candidates for council have come forward.
The two incumbent Rockland representatives on the Regional School Unit 13, whose seats end this year, have taken out papers to seek re-election. Nancy Jeffers and Esther “Tess” Kilgour have taken out papers. Both are three-year seats.
No one has returned papers either for the council or school board. The deadline for filing to get on the Nov. 3 ballot is Sept. 21.
