AUGUSTA, Maine — A man and a woman are behind bars Friday after a cocaine and heroin bust, the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency announced.
Loretta Barton, 57, and Nicholas Rolling, 22, both of Augusta, are facing drug trafficking charges, according to an MDEA statement issued Friday.
An investigation has been ongoing into the sale of cocaine, crack cocaine and heroin from a State Street residence over the course of several months and culminated in the arrests of Barton and Rolling on Thursday.
The pair conducted a number of drug purchases with undercover drug agents, according to the statement.
After the execution of a search warrant, both were taken into custody. Barton was charged with aggravated trafficking Schedule W drugs, and Rollins is facing a charge of trafficking Schedule W drugs. Barton’s charges were aggravated because of a 1992 felony drug conviction.
Both were taken to the Kennebec County Jail, where bail was set at $2,000 for Rolling and $2,500 for Barton.
Additional arrests are likely as the investigation continues.
