GUILFORD — Jordynne Littlefield scored her second goal of the game with 1:31 left in the second overtime on Wednesday afternoon to lift the Piscataquis Community Pirates to a season-opening 3-2 field hockey victory over the Hermon Hawks.
Littlefield scored in the first half off an assist from Alanna Page, and Miriah Chapman added an unassisted goal for Piscatquis Community, which led 2-0 at halftime.
Hermon rallied late in the second half with a goal from Kayla Clark, assisted by Lexey MacManus and Karli Theberge, with 7:56 left, and Theberge’s penalty stroke at the 1:11 mark.
Sydney Marden made 3 saves on 5 shots for PCHS and Kayla Gray logged 16 saves on 26 shots for Hermon.
Hampden Acad. 2, Bangor 0
At Hampden, Kelly Martin scored the game’s only goals to spark the Broncos to a season-opening win over the Rams.
Daija Misler provided an assist for Hampden Academy to support Ruby Ramsay, who made five saves.
Bangor was led by Kahia Maheux, who made 22 saves on 24 shots.
JV: Hampden Academy 2-0
Dexter 3, Central 0
At Corinth, Abby Webber scored a goal and had two assists to lead Dexter to victory over Central.
Kolby Kain and Emily Watson each added one goal and Katie Batron had an assist for the Tigers.
Dexter’s Kaitlyn Pacquin did not allow a goal. Makayla Boudreau stopped 18 of 21 shots for Central.
Foxcroft Acad. 6, John Bapst 0
At Dover-Foxcroft, Ali Bourget scored two of her team’s five first-half goals and added an assist to power the Ponies past the Crusaders.
Jillian Annis, Abi Bourget, Emily Curtis and Mariah Poulin tallied a goal apiece for Foxcroft Academy. Madison Fadley notched two assists while Becca Anderson, Ali Bourget and Curtis had one apiece. Madison Chadbourne and Su Kim did not face any shots.
Samantha Cole made 15 saves on 26 shots for John Bapst of Bangor.
Girls Soccer
Fort Fairfield 3, CAHS 2 (OT)
At Mars Hill, Chelsey Pelkey scored in the second overtime to carry the Fort Fairfield Tigers to victory over the Central Aroostook Panthers.
Fort Fairfield jumped out to a 2-0 halftime with goals from Pelkey and Alexis Coiley, but Central Aroostook responded early in the second half with goals by Delaney Grass and Jadeyn Giberson (penalty kick).
Sarah Watt made two saves on nine shots for the Tigers and Ashlee Harris had nine stops on 14 shots for the Panthers.
Hodgdon 5, Van Buren 1
At Van Buren, Jill Gough provided two goals and an assist to lead the Hawks to victory.
Madison Merritt and Sara Hutchinson scored a goal each for Hodgdon and Sydney Howell contributed an assist.
Lindsey Gendreau scored for Van Buren.
Caribou 3, Presque Isle 1
At Caribou, Eileen Patton (direct kick) and Gabrielle Marquis scored 4:09 apart in the second half to propel the Vikings past the Wildcats.
Maddie Doucette netted an unassisted goal for 2-0 Caribou, which received 10 saves on 21 shots from Jaelynn Doody.
Taylor Williams scored for 1-1 Presque Isle and Jillian Flynn made six saves on 16 shots.
Boys Soccer
Hodgdon 6, Van Buren 5
At Van Buren, Jimmy Buzzell scored three goals to pace Hodgdon to victory.
Wyatt Foster recorded two goals and one assist while Dolen Palmer added one goal for the Hawks.
For the Crusaders, Noah Lajoie scored three goals while Matthew Burgess and Dominic Belanger each chipped in a goal. Thomas Lajoie and Joseph Canwell each had an assist.
Washburn 2, Ashland 0
At Washburn on Tuesday, Jovanni Tavares scored two goals to help the Beavers improve to 4-3.
Justin Davis and McCall Turner each notched an assist for the Beavers while goalkeeper Caleb Thompson finished with eight saves on 12 shots.
Goalkeeper Timmy Tarr made six saves on 15 shots for Ashland (3-2).
How to report games
The BDN welcomes high school coaches, managers and athletic directors to report their high school games and events.
We require schools to report their games to our website instead of calling or faxing us.
Doing so is the best way to guarantee that the game will appear on the BDN website and in the newspaper.
FOR ALL GAMES, we ask schools to list each team’s record and the first and last names of players mentioned for each team. Also, key highlights to the game.
FOR FOOTBALL, we ask for the touchdown plays, including the names of the rusher or passer and receiver and the yardage of the plays, along with individual rushing, passing, receiving and tackles statistics and other key plays.
FOR SOCCER AND FIELD HOCKEY, we ask for all scorers for each team and other available stat leaders such as assists, along with goalkeepers, saves and shots.
