BAILEYVILLE, Maine — A Baileyville man was arrested Thursday after allegedly hitting a pedestrian with his vehicle.
Jason Durgin was charged with aggravated assault and violating bail conditions, Acting Police Chief Andrew Seavey said Friday.
Durgin allegedly struck Stephen Perkins, 25, also of Baileyville, who was walking at the time, and then drove to the police station to report the incident.
Durgin was arrested at the police station and then taken to Washington County Jail, Seavey said.
Perkins suffered serious injuries, including a broken femur, pelvic and lung injuries and some internal bleeding, Seavey said.
Seavey said Perkins was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center by LifeFlight and is listed in critical but stable condition.
Police are looking into whether an ongoing conflict between the two men precipitated the incident, which remains under investigation.
