CORINTH, Maine — Four juveniles were injured Saturday when the stolen tractor-trailer cab they were in went off Route 15, spun around, then rolled over, according to the Penobscot County sheriff’s office.
The names of the teenagers — a male driver and three female passengers — were not released by the Penobscot County or the Piscataquis County sheriffs offices because they are juveniles.
The driver, a 17-year-old Bangor transient, was expected to be charged in Piscataquis County in connection with the theft of the cab from a Sebec logging firm, Penobscot County Deputy Ryan Fitch said Saturday.
The deputy said the male and two females were transported to Bangor hospitals for treatment for minor injuries. The third girl was released to her parents, he said.
Fitch said he was called to the scene about 3:15 a.m. and found the cab down an embankment, lying on the driver’s side. The deputy attributed the accident to speed and driver inexperience.
The male has a license to drive passenger cars but not to drive a commercial cab for a tractor trailer, Fitch said.
Deputies learned at the scene that the cab was stolen. The owner was not aware it had been taken, according to the Piscataquis County sheriff’s office.
