Madison Michaud has made an immediate impact for the Presque Isle High School girls soccer team.

Not only did the freshman striker she set a school record among girls for most goals in a game with six goals in an 8-0 win over Old Town on Saturday, she now has scored 12 of her team’s 20 goals.

Presque Isle is 4-2 in Class B North and will travel to play Foxcroft Academy on Wednesday.

“I’ve watched her play since she was in sixth grade. I couldn’t wait for her to get here,” said Wildcats coach Ralph Michaud, who is not related to Madison. “She has a hunger to score goals. She has great skill, too.

“When the ball comes to her, on her first touch she is thinking, ‘How can I get myself in position to score off this touch?’” said Ralph Michaud. “She has great instincts. She anticipates well. And I think she has scored half of her goals with each foot.”

Michaud said he brought Madison up to play on their high school summer soccer team right before she entered eighth grade “and she wound up leading our team in goals with six.”
