Florida suspends 2 players
The University of Florida will be without suspended quarterback Treon Harris and cornerback Jalen Tabor for Saturday’s SEC game against Tennessee.
Gators coach Jim McElwain announced the one-game suspensions on Wednesday but didn’t specify a reason other than to say he based the decision on “some choices they made.” Officially, the sophomores were suspended for an undisclosed violation of University Athletic Association policy.
Tabor was a starter in the first two games this season but a backup last week in Florida’s win over Kentucky. He has one interception, which he returned for a touchdown against East Carolina, and four pass breakups in the first three games this year after playing in all 12 games as a freshman in 2014. Quincy Wilson is expected to start in place of Tabor.
Harris started Florida’s opener this season and has played in two games, completing 19 of 27 passes for 269 yards and two touchdowns. He did not play last week against UCF. Redshirt freshman Will Grier will take Harris’ spot on Saturday.
