Speedway 95 in Hermon will conclude its 49th season with stock car racing on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, including Dorr Memorial Twin 50-lap features on Sunday.
Racing will begin at 2.
It will be Veterans Appreciation Weekend and all veterans will be admitted free. They will also be treated to a free breakfast on Sunday morning from 7 to 9.
The general public may attend the breakfast for a donation and the money raised will go to veterans homes.
This will be the first time there will be two Ikey Dorr races for Street Stocks, Wildcats and Outlaw cars.
It is the fifth year of a race in honor of Dorr, an Addison native who died of a heart attack while racing at Speedway 95 on June 6, 2009.
In addition to the Dorr races, Sunday’s race card will also have a 50-lap Sport Four race and a 150-lap Late Model feature.
On Saturday, there will be a 50-lap Outlaw Super Series race, a 35-lap Modified Enduro event, a 50-lap Roadrunner feature, a flag pole race and a demolition derby.
Grandstand admission will be $5 on Saturday and $10 on Sunday. Pit admission will be $10 on Saturday and $25 on Sunday.
There will be three payouts for the Dorr series. In addition to payouts for the two races, there will also be payouts to the drivers based on how they finish each race.
Each race winner will pocket $400, as will the driver who has the best combined finishes. So if one driver wins both races, he will pocket $1,200.
Kim Baker Allen, the Speedway 95 office manager and official scorer, said the idea for the Dorr race series was proposed to track promoter Chuck Hall by some drivers who were involved in a similar setup at another track.
“It’s something different and we wanted to see what we could do with it,” said Allen.
Kurt Hewins of Leeds won last year’s Ikey Dorr Memorial, which was a 100-lapper.
Steuben’s Brenton Parritt won the 150-lap Late Model race a year ago.
The Late Model winner will pocket $2,000.
