YORK, Maine — York High School briefly went into lockdown Thursday morning after officials were informed a student had a weapon on a school bus, according to a statement from the school.

The school’s resource officer was informed, and the school was subsequently placed into lockdown, according to the statement.

Police quickly arrived and apprehended the student and recovered the weapon, which was not a gun but what school officials are describing as an edged weapon.

The identity of the student was not disclosed.

The lockdown was lifted once the building was secured. Students have resumed regular daily activities.
