BANGOR, Maine — In two separate incidents, police have seized about $25,500 worth of heroin and arrested three people on drug trafficking charges, the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency indicated Friday.
MDEA agents, assisted by the Maine State Police and the Oxford Police Department, arrested Dennis A. Russell, 28, of West Paris on Wednesday and charged him with a single count of aggravated trafficking of scheduled drugs.
According to law enforcement reports, Russell was the occupant of a vehicle stopped by law enforcement at the Big Apple convenience store on Portland Road in Gray.
Agents report finding 85 grams of heroin worth an estimated $17,000 in the vehicle. They believe the heroin was destined for the Oxford Hills area.
Russell was taken to the Cumberland County Jail, where bail was set at $40,000 cash. MDEA reports the investigation is ongoing and additional arrests are expected.
In a separate incident, MDEA agents, assisted by the Sabattus, Lisbon and Lewiston police departments, arrested two Sabattus residents on Thursday and charged them with trafficking in heroin.
According to law enforcement reports, Theodore M. Lague, 33, and Tabitha N. Tardiff, 32, were arrested at their home at 54 West Ridge Road in Sabattus as part of an investigation into the sale of heroin from multiple residences in the Sabattus area over the past several months.
Agents reported serving a search warrant at the home and discovering 42 grams of heroin worth an estimated $8,500. They also found scales and packing material used in drug distribution, according to reports.
Lague and Tardiff each were charged with one count of unlawful trafficking in scheduled drugs and taken to the Androscoggin County Jail. Lague’s bail was set at $5,000 and Tardiff’s bail was set at $2,500.
Agents report that investigation is also ongoing and that additional arrests are expected.
